Community Action Too Good for Drugs (921 Beauty Avenue, P. O. Box 90014, Bowling Green, KY 42102-9014)—Works to build self-efficacy in children in order to reduce the probability of substance abuse in low-income families.  Educational emphasis includes the dangers of substance abuse, how to resist peer pressure and making good decisions.  In addition to the children in the program, education is also provided to parents concerning recognizing risk factors, warning signs and how to build self-esteem in children. The Salvation Army (400 West Main Street, P. O. Box 796, Bowling Green, KY, 42102-0796)-Provides hot meals, clothing and shelter to people in distress.  Counseling services are provided to assist the homeless with securing permanent shelter, job preparedness and transportation services for securing employment. Feeding program offers hot meals, a food pantry and referrals to community resources. Operates a Thrift Store at 400 W. Main Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Soup Kitchen hours are 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
