(March 2, 2011, Bowling Green, KY) The WKU Student Activities Office hosted the first inaugural "Jail & Bail" event benefiting the United Way of Southern Kentucky on March 1st. Students, faculty and staff were nominated by a variety of organizations to be 'jail birds' at this event. Nominees or ‘jail birds’ reported to the United Way jail on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 in the Downing University Center Lobby from 10:00am-2:00pm to raise their bail. Jail birds and their supporting organizations donated a $25 fee for each nomination, which had to be matched by the jail bird for bail. The event raised $870 for the United Way which will be used to impact the most critical areas of need in Southern Kentucky.
