In conjunction with The Bowling Green Daily News, the United Way of Southern Kentucky coordinates a weekly newspaper column entitled, “A Friend In Need”. This weekly column lists cases of human needs that local non-profit organizations need assistance with. Responses are printed after a need has been met.
Objectives:
- To give health and human service agencies a way to advertise needs which they cannot meet on their own
- To give individuals in the community an outlet to donate items or services to non-profit agencies in as easy and effective way, allowing them to remain anonymous
Guidelines:
1. All requests for assistance must come from non-profit Health & Human Service agencies.
2. The need will be considered after the agency has exhausted its resources.
3. The request for assistance must be valued at no more than $1,000
4. The agency requesting the assistance must screen the case before turning it over to the United Way.
5. Each case can be published in the column a maximum of two times (two weeks). The column runs every Sunday in the Lifestyles section of the newspaper.
