Here are just a few examples of where your United Way donation is going, and the impact you are making on our community.
As a result of your generosity and the generosity of over 7500 of our fellow Southern Kentuckians who donated to United Way during the 2008/2009 campaign, the following are a portion of the services that were able to be provided during 2009/2010 across Southern Kentucky:
- Big Brothers Big Sisters provided 537 youth mentoring services, helping to give at-risk children self-confidence and a positive role model
- BRASS (Barren River Area Safe Space) provided 6,326 crisis services for domestic abuse victims
- The Barren River Long Term Care Ombudsman Program provided 2,009 advocate services on behalf of nursing home residents
- Hope Harbor provided 9,195 education services for sexual abuse and rape prevention
- Kentucky Legal Aid provided 1,910 legal services for the impoverished and domestic violence victims
- Hospice provided 1,448 services as in-home care for the terminally ill
- 200 advocacy services were provided by CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) for abused and neglected children
- RCDC (Regional Child Development Clinic) provided 228 services for the early identification of developmental disabilities
- The Salvation Army provided 5,351 services through their Feeding Program and Soup Kitchen. 888 services were provided through their Homeless Shelter.
- Simpson County Literacy, The International Center, and Logan County Adult Education and Workforce Development combined provided 1,974 adult education services
- A grand total of 47,197 services were provided by United Way Partner Agencies
