Here are just a few examples of where your United Way donation is going, and the impact you are making on our community.

As a result of your generosity and the generosity of over 7500 of our fellow Southern Kentuckians who donated to United Way during the 2010/11 campaign, the following are a portion of the services that were able to be provided during 2011/12 across Southern Kentucky:

      • BRASS crisis advocates responded to 5,331 calls on the two United Way funded 24-hour phone lines.
      • The Salvation Army provided 43,272 hot meals to 5,041 low-income individuals.
      • Kentucky Legal Aid established $154,000 in annualized child support for 135 children in low-income, single parent homes in Warren County.
      • 96% of the 610 youth enrolled at Boys and Girls Club increased their knowledge in 5 of 7 program areas such as Character/Leadership, Health/Life Skills and Education/Career.
      • 82% of the children completing the early education program at Wee Care Child Care demonstrated school readiness by meeting the appropriate milestones.
      • The Allen County Schools Resource centers served 1,767 students including assistance with food, utilities, housing, transportation and medical and dental care.
      • 516 victims of domestic violence in Allen County received services from BRASS including counseling, safety planning, legal advocacy and emergency financial assistance.
      • Kentucky Legal Aid established $38,500 in child support for 35 children in low-income, single parent homes in Allen County.
      • The Barren River Long Term Care Ombudsman program visited 284 residents of long term care facilities in Allen County.
      • Community Medical Care provided access to medical services to 362 working, uninsured adults in Glasgow, including 2,071 prescriptions.
      • Community Relief served 6,830 individuals including assistance with food, utilities, housing, transportation and medical and dental care.
      • 1,312 victims of domestic violence in Barren County received services from BRASS including counseling, safety planning, legal advocacy and emergency financial assistance.
      • Kentucky Legal Aid established $80,000 in child support for 64 children in low-income, single parent homes in Barren County.
      • 50 students of Logan County Adult Education program received their GED.
      • Logan County Good Samaritan served 2,409 individuals including assistance with food, utilities, housing, transportation and medical and dental care.
      • 462 victims of domestic violence in Logan County received services from BRASS including counseling, safety planning, legal advocacy and emergency financial assistance.
      • Kentucky Legal Aid established $39,000 in child support for 39 children in low-income, single parent homes in Logan County.
