Thomas is a 46 year old single parent. He moved to Bowling Green from Logan County after divorcing his wife. Thomas experienced several life changing incidents in his life besides the divorce. The grandparent that raised him passed away. He is unable to work after being hospitalized and diagnosed with Leukemia. After his ex-wife became addicted to drugs he also had a daughter to raise.
To Thomas, the soup kitchen was a place they could get a well balanced meal. To Angel, it was her daddy taking her on a daily lunch date.
Thomas first came to The Salvation Army to see if there was a food bank available. He soon learned he could not only get food to take home, but he and his daughter could eat at our soup kitchen. This was welcomed news to Thomas as he had a fixed income and had not yet applied for food stamps. Each time Thomas and his daughter Angel would come to the soup kitchen, you could see them walking across the parking lot, hand in hand with smiles big enough to light up a room.
