Ms. Washington

Ms. Washington was forced to move to Bowling Green from St. Louis, MO, to be closer to her family with her health condition. This was the determining factor in her decision to relocate. She obtained temporary volunteer opportunity through a group called Experience Works to come work at The Salvation Army. She was force to sell her belonging and move into smaller place. Ms. Washington faced hardship after hardship. Not able to secure a job because of her health condition, she started to come to the soup kitchen to eat a well-balanced meal. Ms. Washington recently was released from the hospital with a brain aneurysm. It was even more devastating to learn her insurance did not cover all her procedure and medicine, leaving her in unimaginable debt. Her family has tried to assistance her as much as they can. She stated she cannot wait until she is well enough to come back to eat in the soup kitchen, because she enjoys the atmosphere.
